Abstract

Advancements in construction material technology necessitate the selection of an appropriate type of cement to ensure that the resulting concrete quality meets technical specifications. Portland Composite Cement (PCC) is widely used in Indonesia; however, variations in the composition of constituent materials and the fineness of the cement across different brands can influence the compressive strength of the concrete produced. This study aims to analyze the impact of using three different brands of PCC—Cement A, Cement B, and Cement C—on the development of concrete compressive strength at 7, 14, and 28 days. It also seeks to identify which brand yields the highest compressive strength at 28 days for a target design strength of $f'c = 30$ MPa, in accordance with the specifications for road concrete as per SNI 7656:2012. The research employed an experimental laboratory method, with concrete mix designs prepared based on the provisions of SNI 7656:2012. Cylindrical test specimens were subjected to compressive strength testing at each specified curing age. The results reveal significant variations in compressive strength among the three PCC brands. Cement A yielded the highest performance, with an average compressive strength of 32.610 MPa at 28 days, followed by Cement B at 32.044 MPa, while Cement C reached only 29.524 MPa. Cement A demonstrated the most stable and consistent performance throughout the testing period. It can be concluded that the choice of PCC brand influences the rate of concrete compressive strength development, driven by variations in mineral composition and cement hydration characteristics. These findings serve as a reference for construction practitioners and contractors in selecting an optimal PCC brand to produce concrete that meets national technical standards.
